      Careless whisper是Wham!组合在1984年发行的一首单曲，推出后立刻受到听众力捧，在25个国家排行榜登顶，单曲销量六百万张。

      威猛乐队由两位小学时代的好友组成，他们是乔治·迈克尔（George Michael）和安德鲁·维治利（Andrew Ridgeley）。 从小他们便热衷于音乐。高中毕业后，他们失业在家，但这也使得他们能更加致力于歌曲的创作。1982年，他们写了一首描述英国青年人中失业状况的歌曲《威猛轻敲》（《Wham Rap》），并以此获得了唱片公司的合约和公众的注意。不久，威猛的名字就开始出现在英美两地的流行歌曲排行榜上。

      1984年，WhaM!乐队推出了它的第二张唱片专辑《Make it Big》，其中就有这首《Careless Whisper》。唱片推出后大受欢迎，有3个星期位居美国Billboard排行榜榜首，连续18个星期进入排行榜前10名。

      在《滚石》杂志选出的“1984年最佳100首歌曲”中，该首歌位居第24位。  1985年2月16日，该首歌在美国公告牌百强单曲榜登顶，并连续了三周，拿下来当年的年终榜冠军。  此外，该首歌还拿下了全球24个国家的单曲榜冠军。该首歌的全球销量超过了六百万张。

      乔治·迈克尔写下这首歌曲时只有17岁。1980年的一天，在英国芬契列电影院当引座员的乔治·迈克尔在乘坐公共汽车时，脑海里一直盘旋着一个旋律，回到家后，他急忙把它写了下来。歌词描述了一段迟迟不敢表白的暗恋心情。
