      该歌的乐曲取自俄语歌曲Дорогой длинною（路漫漫），这是一支犹太民谣，最早是 1926 年由一位叫做亚历山大·沃廷斯基的俄罗斯人用俄语演唱的（历史上不少犹太人迁徙到俄罗斯居住，已成为俄罗斯民族的一部分）。1968 年，威尔士民歌手玛丽·霍普金(Mary Hopkin)演唱了这首歌的英文版，成为欧美流行音乐史上难以忘怀的经典之作。这首非常怀旧的歌曲讲述了一个往日时光的美好故事，而曲调中又明显透露出犹太民族离乱中坚毅自强的可贵品格。
